Be Wais 2026
An initiative by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas and the Rural Bankers Association of the Philippines to combat digital fraud and phishing.
Visualizing the Threat
Digital fraud in 2026 often arrives via deceptive SMS or "smishing" messages. Being able to visually identify the red flags—such as urgent language or unofficial links—is your first line of defense.
The "Check, Protect, Report" Framework
CHECK: Verify Before You Click
Avoid clicking links sent via SMS or email. Cybercriminals often mimic official bank communications. Manually verify sources by typing official websites directly into your browser.
PROTECT: Secure Your Credentials
Use robust, unique passwords for every financial account. Never disclose sensitive personal information, PINs, or login details to third parties.
REPORT: Take Immediate Action
In the event of suspicious activity or unauthorized transactions, time is critical. Contact your bank or e-money issuer immediately to freeze your accounts.
⚠️ OFFICIAL SECURITY REQUIREMENT
The BSP reminds the public that legitimate financial institutions will never ask for your One-Time Password (OTP), login credentials, or PIN over the phone or via text message.
